Kroger declines to ban handguns in stores - Knoxville gun rights

Kroger issued a statement this week dismissing the Moms Demand Action (MDA) call for Kroger to "ban open carry" in the Kroger family of stores. In a statement on their web site, Kroger said,

Policy on customers carrying firearms in stores

The safety of our customers and associates is one of our most important company values. Millions of customers are present in our busy grocery stores every day and we don't want to put our associates in a position of having to confront a customer who is legally carrying a gun. That is why our long-standing policy on this issue is to follow state and local laws and to ask customers to be respectful of others while shopping. We know that our customers are passionate on both sides of this issue and we trust them to be responsible in our stores.

So, Kroger has made a wise decision, and decided to conform to the law. They are to be commended for this. Readers are encouraged to send a short note to Kroger, thanking them for their decision to follow the law, and Buy Handguns Online not increase the danger to their customers by designating their stores as Gun Free Zones.

Moms Demand Action, a group funded by New York City's former mayor, Michael Bloomberg, has had mixed success in persuading some businesses to ban firearms on their premises. When MDA gets a business to issue a statement in their favor, they count that as a success. For example, Starbucks, Chipotle's and Sonic issued statements asking customers not to bring guns into their stores. Whoopee! But to my knowledge, none of these have actually posted their properties with signs.

Bloomberg has 24/7 armed protection, courtesy of the taxpayers of New York. But he has used some of his billions to try and reduce or eliminate the right of ordinary citizens (serfs) to keep and bear arms. He has spent money in New England, Colorado, and recently in the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Sheriff's Race where he lost big time.

Bloomberg was the founder of "Mayors Against Illegal Guns", whose membership has included numerous mayors who now have felony convictions. This group has been more aptly named in the gun rights community as "Illegal Mayors Against Guns". Maryville Mayor (865) 273-3900 joined the group last year, and he is in the good company of Mayor Tom Beehan of Oak Ridge (865) 425-3432), according to a recent report. Hurricane Katrina gun grabber and now felon, former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was also a member of the organization.
